One Nation

July 4th 1776  –   July 4th 2017
The Word of God saith; “Don’t remove the old landmarks”!  This was to ensure that we remained in the same spirit as are forefathers. They set precedence for the followers not to stray.  Some say that this is not a Christian nation.  Yet, if we look at the many things written, it speaks otherwise.
~ Pastor Steve Logan

Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for (as) their rulers.
~ John Jay – First Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded not by religionist, but by Christians; not on religion, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
~ Patrick Henry – Governor of Virginia

Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of this free government.
~ Charles Carrol Signer of the Declaration of Independence

If America is to survive, we must elect more God-centered men and women to public office- individuals who will seek divine guidance in affairs of state.
~ Billy Graham

The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent ground in politics… God cannot sustain this free and blessed country which we love and pray for unless the church will take right ground.  It seems sometimes as if the foundations of the nation are becoming rotten and Christians seem to act as if they think God does not see what they do in politics.
~ Charles Finney

Now more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption.  If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent then in national legislature.
~ President James A. Garfield

God commands you to choose for rulers just men who will rule in the fear of God.  The preservation of the republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty; if the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted; the law will be made not for the public good, so much as for selfish or local purposes.  Corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws and the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men and the rights of citizens will be violated on disregard.
~ Jonathan Mayhew

He who has made all men, has made the truths necessary to human happiness obvious to all.  Our forefathers opened the Bible to all.
~ Samuel Adams

The general principles upon which the fathers achieved independence were the general principles of Christianity.  I will avow that I believe and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are the eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.
~John Adams Second President

My only hope of salvation is in the infinite transcendent love of God manifested to the world by the blood that will wash away my sins.  I rely exclusively upon it.  So come, Lord, Jesus come quickly.

~ Benjamin Rush – Signer of the Declaration of Independence

IF THE FOUNDATION BE DESTROYED, WHAT CAN THE RIGHTEOUS DO?
BY JEDIDIAH MORSE 1761-1826

Our dangers are of two kinds, those which affect our religion, and those which affect our government.  They are, however, so closely allied that they cannot, with propriety, be separated.  The foundations which support the interest of Christianity are also necessary to support a free and equal government like our own.  To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and a political and social happiness which mankind now enjoys.  In proportion as the genuine effects of Christianity are diminished in any nation, either through unbelief, or the corruption of its doctrines, on the neglect of its institution; in the same proportion will the people of that nation recede from the blessings of genuine freedom, and approximate the miseries of complete despotism.  I hold this to be a truth confirmed by experience. If so, it follows, that all efforts made to destroy the foundations of our holy religion ultimately lead to the subversion also of our political freedom and happiness.  Whenever the pillars of Christianity shall be overthrown, our present republican forms of government and the blessings which flow from them must fall with them.
