The Altar Speaks Part 3 – God will Provide
Moses said “This is the thing which the Lord commanded that you should do and the glory of the Lord shall appear unto you. Go to the altar!” (Lev. 9:6-7) If you want a visitation from the Lord go to the altar. The Lord said, “The place where I record my name there is where I will meet with you.” The altars were called by the name of the Lord. (Gen 22:14) And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day “In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.” This altar is called the Lord will provide!
And Issac spake unto Abraham, his father, and said, “My father.” His father said, “Here am I my son. Behold the fire and the wood.” Isaac responded, “But where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering.” So they went both of them together and they came to the place which God told them of. Abraham built an altar there and laid the wood in order and bound Isaac, his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.
As we take a deeper look into this altar we can see far into the future. We see God, so loving the world that one day He would give His only begotten Son as a sacrifice for us all. One day it would be Christ that would be bound to the wood of an old rugged cross. This altar speaks of provision. All of our needs are met. Propitiation. All of our sins are covered with His blood. Yes, the altar is the place where God’s glory would be revealed. This is the altar you come to for all of your needs to be met!
